Newgrange or Brú na Bóinne in Gaelic, a Neolithic passage tomb built over 5000 years ago with precise astronomical alignment to the sun. The art is one of the most remarkable features of the Newgrange monument. Some of it is a spectacular combination of spirals, lozenges, chevrons, triangles and arrangements of parallel lines and arcs. There are many theories as to the meaning of the carvings, the most popular representing the cycles of the sun.

The Triskele is believed to represent the unity of the elements of earth; air, fire and water.
